I had a pretty limited budget but a really clear mission: buy as many new and interesting Japanese snacks and drinks to trial and review for my blog. What I didn’t realise is that actually going to the Japanese Supermarket would feel like going to a theme park and the theme was Japanese yum in my tum!!!
The limitations I had were financial, I had to stay on budget and physical, I couldn’t buy more than I could carry, and time, we had a bid day and a long drive ahead so I really had a time limit, this wasn’t browsing so much as high-speed decision making on what felt like a once in a lifetime experience.
Looks like I would be lying if I didn’t say all the packaging was a key driver for all my excitement, the graphics, the language and the cute images. While my tastebuds were dripping at the idea of green tea flavoured everything, seaweed flavoured other things and cherry blossom scented many things, it came down to a few key categories: drinks, chips, chocolate, candy and adventurous: I’ve never seen that before kind of awesome.
Highlights: The never-ending nirvana of packets and bottles of joy. Setting off on a four-hour car drive never felt so good.
Lowlights: Absolutely none.
